Easily one of the most emotionally devastating albums I've ever heard. And this isn't any whiny mainstream pop-rock either, this album is overflowing with sadness, agony, anger, and any other cliche topic. This album's different though, it'll grab a hold of you, throw you back down onto the ground and proceed to shatter every bone in your body to a fine powder. I am certain I'll still be listening to this album in 10 years time.
The highlight of this album to me is "So You Wanna Be A Super Hero", this song clicked with me on a level that few other songs were able to reach. I had been suffering from a bad bout of insomnia at the time and I was 4 months in when I heard this song, and it was almost like this song was written about me. The lyrics are more like a suicidal insomniac's diary entry than a song. "There's banging on the wall, it's 5 AM. I've got no sleep at all. Just thoughts of how I might struggle through tomorrow. Too much time in one day, too much time to occupy. Boring thoughts, boring moods, and boring bedtimes".
You don't just listen to this album, you experience it even though it's the kind of album that will bring you 3 inches closer to downing that entire bottle of Prozak you've been staring at for the last 6 hours. It's also a completely worthwhile listen and one of the greatest albums ever written in my opinion.
